the google adwords experiment the facts: I submitted my url to every free submission site, search engine and directory I could find. I used meta tags and every other basic strategy I could think of to be indexed properly/promptly. My site had been live for almost two months and I had received zero visits. Idea: I visit google at least ten times a day. It has changed how I think about information, how I question things, how i think of myself. At google your site is ranked based on relevancy(how many links there are to a site=google ranking). This means that to google, the user, not the advertiser,or the web site admin is most important. Relevant information for the user! This is why I visit google so much, so I guess i cant expect google to change the rules and let me trick/spam people into visiting my site.... and spamming was my first intention...just get people here to see my work...the ends justify the means...... so i picked all sorts of crazy words for my ad to show up under: but if you are searching for britney spears and get an ad for video art, number one, you wont click it, number two, if you do you will be disappointed and have cost me a nickel. Learned: I don't just want people, I want relevant people. to be continued: jan 11, 2003 I get about 30 visitors a day now, half are from the adwords ad. The others are from god knows where. Thanks for coming. jan 24, 2003 I get about 40 people a day now. Links from other sites are starting to popup. I am only paying for about half of my visits. Hopefully this means people are bookmarking and linking to me. check my webstats be sure to check how theyget here.
