create your own favicon.ico in mac os x! no photoshop plugins required!

This could all be for naught since I am not sure if my favicon.ico works on windows pcs..... but after reading about it and not finding any free icon software for the mac, I took a stab at making one in photoshop. It seems to have worked in safari(apple's new browser) which is standards based... so i would imagine it works on the pc...I could be wrong. I am sure you will let me know.

make your own favicon in 3 easy steps.

open photoshop(or any image editor)

squash or crop a photo or image down to 16x16 pixels @72 dpi

save to the top level of your webserver as favicon.ico, change the settings to windows bitmap, 16 bit, make sure you change the .bmp extension to .ico

yes you could get much fancier with this than I have, transparency etc... go here
